Ensuring adequate nutrition for hospital in-patients

At this meeting, members of the Forum discussed the best means of ensuring that hospital in-patients receive adequate nutrition and hydration and that hospital staff (and visitors) have healthy food options available to them. They were also briefed on the range of specialist medical foods available to patients with special needs. The guest speakers were: Philip King, Director of Regulatory Development, Care Quality Commission; Robin Ireland, Chief Executive, Heart of Mersey; Steve Jamieson, Head of Nursing, Royal College of Nursing; and Andrea Ralph on behalf of the British Specialist Nutrition Association (BSNA).
