Salt reduction in the UK - achievements & next steps

At its first meeting of the year, the Forum discussed the progress achieved to date in terms of reformulating processed food in the UK to reduce its salt content and possible next steps, including the COT-SACN report on potassium-based sodium replacers. The guest speakers were: Professor Graham MacGregor of Consensus Action on Salt; Dawn Hardy on behalf of the Food Additives and Ingredients Association; and Professor Susan Lanham-New, Head of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Surrey.
